Full Version: SonicStage 4.3 stopped transferring MP3s
For a while, I could make a standard transfer of MP3 files to my Sony Net MD Walkman MZ-NF610. Now, every time I try, SonicStage 4.3 gives me a message, "Select a bit rate. One or more files cannot be transferred in their current bit rate. They will be converted and transferred." This happens to all MP3s, regardless of bit rate or size and even to files I had previously downloaded. Does someone have an explanation or recommendation?
The NF610 doesn't play MP3 natively. Always converted to some variety of .oma.
So (i've never done this, as I don't use MP3's except to make them) it's asking you which .oma file to make.
You can find which one is already there, by rightclicking the files one by one and selecting "Properties", then the tab labelled "File Info".
To stop giving SS a headache it sounds like you need to default the output format. Suggest LP2. It may be that it is set to " ask me every time" - and you simply can't do that when you have multiple files to transfer, it doesn't have the logic to create multiple different formats on a single transfer.
Transfer setting is controlled by the buttons in the middle of the screen (or there is a fancier way from the menu but who cares?).
See if this helps and if it doesn't I will try and specify the steps more exactly.

I am about 99.9% sure you cannot have an NF610. Either that or SS was converting without telling you.
In fact if you look in the equipment browser you will see that nothing before the RH710 had this feature, ie machines made starting in 2005 and later. Thus the vast majority do not support native MP3 playback.
